There has been such a buzz in this city of mine. Just when the Bristol food scene couldn’t get any better, shipping containers dropped down for the first instalment of ‘Cargo’ within the new Wapping Wharf development. And then comes Cargo 2. More independents, more food – basically more things to get excited about!
I’ve come together with a whole bunch of other Bristol-based food bloggers to share a round-up of reviews for Cargo 2. In case the title didn’t already give it away, I visited Tare…
Tare is an 18 seat restaurant boasting a five dish set menu that changes on the regular. The dishes are more than just an Instagrammable work of art, each packed a punch in flavour and paid excellent homage to seasonal ingredients. My highlight was the first dish, the duck terrine, cherry, five spice and hazelnut. Of course, the following four plates were absolutely on par with deliciousness. Ending on a beautiful lemon tart, with basil and Cheddar strawberries. It’s the kind of food that reminds me the joy of spending all disposable income on eating out. These aren’t the kind of plates the best of us can casually whip up at home and one hundred percent worth parting with pennies for! I’ll be back as soon as the menu rotates, and as soon as I’ve given their Cargo neighbours a chance to impress too.
