Christmas Together with Waitrose

Have you seen the new Christmas advert from Waitrose? It’s always an exciting time of year when these launch, there’s such a buzz around the release of them! Have a watch, I won’t spoil it for you. It’s got me looking forward to sharing Christmas together with my loved ones around all of the delicious food.

Now I’m thinking I should’ve started with a disclaimer. If you’re a bit bah humbug and boycott all things Christmas until December, then maybe this post isn’t for you. Do stick around though and at least let me try and spread the festive spirit! It can catch on, given half a chance. Early excitement for the season has even taken me by surprise this year.

On Monday I found myself en route to London for a very special festive supper club with Waitrose. It wasn’t long before I caught myself gazing out the window, daydreaming about my favourite Christmas things I look forward to every year. The smell of pine needles dropping from a real tree, pigs in blankets, cheesy Christmas tunes EVERYONE knows the words to, leftover turkey and stuffing sandwiches, eating cheese and drinking wine into the cold night. What’s not to love about that?

We gathered around the table in anticipation of all the amazing food, old friends and new sharing their Christmas stories and favourite traditions. I felt the full warmth of Christmas, and a full belly too! We were spoilt with a proper dinner and all the trimmings. As soon as the maple roast potatoes hit the table I was glad for my decision on an elasticated waistline for the evening! Plates were piled high to the usual Christmas standard and second helpings were made. Christmas is always about the turkey for me but after sampling their Black Forest Venison Rack (French trimmed, topped with a cocoa, chestnut and sourdough crumb, served with a rich cherry sauce!!), I might just have to up the ante this year.

Then, there was pudding. Festive drinks paired with sweets and cheese. Including a special dessert cocktail, a gingerbread martini of sorts, which you can make at home with the recipe here. A rich and creamy delight, you must give it a go this Christmas!

Monday was a memorable evening, between the food and festive cheer I was happily settled into thinking it was Christmas. Back home in Bristol the following day, I struggled to come to terms with the fact it wasn’t actually Boxing Day and no, it wasn’t acceptable to spend the day comfortably in pyjamas munching my way through Christmas leftovers in a fridge that stays well stocked for days. At least the best is yet to come though! There’s all that to look forward to.

What makes a warm and fuzzy Christmas for you? Is it the food? The decorations? I can’t wait to get home to my family and fight over the last pig in a blanket! Spending Christmas together means the world to me.

In the spirit of the season, Waitrose are giving away all sorts of prizes right up until the big day. Tune into their Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and share your Christmas moments with #ChristmasTogether to be in with a chance to win! Find full t&cs over this way.
