Almost four weeks since The Florist opened their doors in Bristol and what an impression they’ve made so far! Situated in a Grade II listed building, formerly occupied by Goldbrick House, this is THE new spot to be ‘gramming. For weeks I walked by The Florist front boarding, growing more and more curious what would soon be ready to unveil. Well, unless you’ve been keeping up with the floods of photos on social media, you’re in for a real surprise when you step through the door! The humble little doorway opens up to three floors of floral decadence, a sensory overload awaits around every corner. It does take a while to find your bearings in the maze of flowers but it’s worth the aimless wandering just to admire the attention to detail.
So yes, as you can see, The Florist are big on their florals. There’s no doubt they’ve nailed their branding. The floral theme runs as heavily through the cocktail menu as it does up the walls. From their signature ‘Jasmine in Bloom’, a sharp brandy-based drink much like a pisco sour, with notes of jasmine and sweet fruit flavours. To floral twists on the classics such as ‘Hibiscus Margherita’. My favourite was, surprisingly, a non-alcoholic option. The ‘Juniper Garden’, concocted with a Seedlip distilled ‘spirit’ as the base and a complementary blend of herbal, fruity flavours for a refreshing finish. At least I don’t have to worry about a fuzzy head the next day with that one!
And if cocktails aren’t your tipple, you’ll find an impressive beer menu to suit your taste. I’m downplaying the beer selection really, by simply calling it a menu, it is, in fact, an anthology of ales with a whopping EIGHTY to choose from! Someone as indecisive as me is probably going to be here a while…

While I’m sure a lot of customers walking through the doors might only have after work drinks in mind, The Florist has got you covered for food as well. I really enjoyed their Sunday Roast. I opted for the beef, which was cooked to perfection and similar sights across the table with my boyfriend’s choice of pork belly too. The weekday menu is varied, with a whole host of vegan and gluten-free options to suit different dietary requirements.
Keep up to date with The Florist on their Instagram, another branch is due to open in Liverpool soon. I’m sure it’ll be a hit there too. Have you been yourself yet? What do you think?
